I met up with Fred and George when the train stopped. “Hey!” I called.
They turned around. “Hello, where have you been?” George asked.
“I was just with Harry, Ron, and Hermione.” I told them.
They nodded. “Well, your carriage awaits.” Fred told me motioning to the carriage.
I laughed and walked towards the carriage. I went in first, then Fred sat next to me, then George across from me, and Lee next to George. We talked about all the things we were excited to do this year at Hogwarts until we reached the castle.
Once we arrived we went to the great hall, sat in our seats, and waited for the first years to be sorted. Once they were all sorted the choir started to sing the school song. Once they finished their song, everyone started clapping and Dumbledore walked forward.
“Welcome, welcome, to another year at Hogwarts!” Dumbledore told us. Everyone was now quietly listening to him. “Now I’d like to say a few words before we all become to befuddled by our excellent feast. First, I’m pleased to welcome Professor R.J. Lupin, who’s kindly considered to fill the post of defense against the dark arts teacher. Good luck professor!” Dumbledore motioned to Lupin. He stood up and everyone clapped.
“Of course, that’s why he gave you the chocolate Harry.” I heard Hermione tell Harry.
“Potter.” I heard Draco call him. “Potter!” he called louder. Harry, Ron, and I turned around. “Is it true you fainted?” Draco asked. His friend motioned a mocking version of fainting. “I mean, you actually fainted?” Draco was mocking Harry.
“Shove off, Malfoy!” Ron told him, turning Harry around.
“Quiet, Draco.” I told him. He glared at me and turned around. Meanwhile, Dumbledore was still giving us a speech. I started to listen to him again.
“Our care for magical creatures for many years has decided to retire, in order to spend more time with his remaining limbs. Fortunately, I’m delighted to announce that his place will be taken by none other, than our own Rubeus Hagrid.” Dumbledore motioned towards Hagrid. We started clapping and McGonagall elbowed him so that he would stand. Hagrid got up hitting the table in front of him and knocking down several glasses over.
Hermione cheered and everyone else just clapped. “Finally, on a more describing note, at the request of the Ministry of Magic, Hogwarts will, until further notice, play host to the dementors of Azkaban.” Everyone began to whisper amongst each other. “Until such a time Sirius Black is captured, the dementors will be stationed at every entrance to the grounds, or else I am assured that their presence will not disrupt our day to day activities, a word of caution. Dementors are vicious creatures, they will not distinguish between the one the hunt and the one who gets in their way. Therefore, I must worn each and every one of you to give them no reason to harm you. It is not in the nature of dementor to be forgiving. But you know, happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” He finished his speech and we began to eat.
“That was assuring.” I said sarcastically.
“Better be careful.” Fred said. I nodded.
“Don’t have to worry about me.” I assured them.
“Oh, sure.” George said sarcastically. “Never.”
We continued to talk for a while when we all decided to head to the dormitory.
