Derek's Threats

*Brooke's POV*
I woke up the next morning with a smile on my face.
Memories of last night flashed through my mind.
I closed my eyes again, remembering my first kiss.
It was truly perfect, at least in my eyes.
I took a deep breath, feeling content with my life right now.
Scott was back, him and Allison were happy together, Jackson and I are back to being friends, Stiles is finally out of the hospital, and I just got my first kiss.
I just hope the good streak lasts.
I opened my eyes and sat up in bed, stretching.
I threw off my covers and got up to head over to the bathroom.
I quickly stripped down and got into the shower.
I let the warm water consume me.
Taking a shower always felt good.

After I had finished getting ready I walked downstairs to get something to eat.
Without being fully aware of what I was doing, I started humming to myself.
I'm guessing it was because of such a good mood I was in.
I walked into the kitchen and saw my mom sitting at the table reading the newspaper.
"Where's Madi?" I asked right away.
My mom moved the paper away from her face and looked at me with a smile.
"When Madi and I went to the park yesterday, she met a little girl named Lindsey. They became friends pretty quickly and she's at Lindsey's house right now" my mom explained.
A smile appeared on my face.
"Well that's good, I'm glad she found a friend" I responded honestly as I walked over to the cabinets.
I pulled out a box of cereal and grabbed a bowl and the carton of milk.
"So, what are you reading?" I asked my mom, attempting to make conversation.
"Well.." she trailed off.
I could almost hear the tension in her voice.
I stopped pouring my cereal and turned to look at her.
"I'm...just reading about the murders" she finished quietly.
I furrowed my eyebrows and frowned.
It's as if I had just gotten slapped by reality.
Surprisingly, I had almost completely forgotten about all the murders going on.
I was so caught up in my own little 'wonderland' that I had tried to push out everything that was bad.
The people on the news had mentioned that school was possibly going to start up again next week on Monday.
Today was Thursday.
I shook my head, attempting to dispel the thoughts.
I walked over to my mom and wrapped my arms around her shoulder, hugging her from behind.
"It's okay mom" I reassured her.
Although I was trying my best to believe my words, too.
My mom slowly nodded her head and turned to look at me, giving me a small smile.
"So, any plans for today?" my mom asked, trying to change the subject.
"Hmm...I don't know yet" I responded as I furrowed my eyebrows.
I realized I really didn't know what I was doing today.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket and checked for any text messages.
I was about to put it back in my pocket, disappointed that I didn't have any new messages, when my phone vibrated.
I smiled to myself and opened the new message.
My smile quickly faded when I realized that it was just from a girl in my English class reminding me about our group project.
We didn't even know when school was going to start again so I'm not sure why she was so worried.
I furrowed my eyebrows and huffed.
"Not the person you were hoping for?" my mom questioned.
"No not really" I muttered back.
I didn't understand why none of my friends had texted me to make plans, not even Stiles.
After last night, I thought for sure Stiles would have texted me first thing this morning.
I sighed and headed towards the door.
"I'm going to go see if Scott's home" I called to my mom.
"Okay, see you later hun" my mom called back.
I left the house and crossed the sidewalk to Scott's front yard.
I was taken by surprise when I saw Stiles' jeep in Scott's driveway.

I looked around the front yard for any sign of either Scott or Stiles.
All of a sudden, I heard voices coming from the back yard.
I slowly walked towards Scott's backyard.
I peeked around the corner of his house and saw him and Stiles sitting on deck chairs, talking to each other.
Stiles' back was to me, but Scott noticed me right away.
I was guessing it was mostly because of his 'werewolf senses'.
The boys instantly stopped talking and Stiles turned around.
Both of them were staring at me.
"Uhm...hi" I mumbled, giving them a small wave.
Scott smiled and Stiles was blushing, although I'm not sure why.
"Hey Brooke" Scott said with a huge smile on his face.
I gave him a weird look and smiled as I walked over to where they were sitting.
"Hey guys, what's up?" I questioned.
"Uhm nothing really, we were just talking about-" Scott started.
"Lacrosse" Stiles finished for him, a little too quickly.
Stiles shot Scott a look.
I raised an eyebrow and looked back and forth from Scott to Stiles.
They both looked over at me and gave me cheesy smiles.
I couldn't help but laugh.
The boys both smiled at me.
"So, what are you guys planning for today?" I asked, when I had finally stopped laughing.
Stiles and Scott both looked at each other.
"Uhm, actually, I just had to talk to Stiles about lacrosse, but I have to go somewhere so I'll see you guys later" Scott said quickly, getting up from his chair.
I stuck out my bottom lip and pouted.
Scott just chuckled and came over to hug me.
"I haven't gotten to hangout with you lately, that is, since you decided to go missing on us" I teased.
"I know, and I'm sorry. We will get to hangout soon, I promise" he responded.
We let go of each other and smiled.
"Talk to you later" Stiles said to Scott.
"Yep, see ya" Scott responded, walking towards his back door.
I waved to Scott one last time before he walked inside.

"So what now?" I questioned, turning to Stiles.
He wrapped his arm around my shoulder as we walked towards Scott's front yard.
"There's somewhere I want to take you" Stiles replied with a smile on his face.
"Please, no more surprises" I whined jokingly.
Stiles chuckled.
"It's not a surprise, I just want to go on a walk with you" he responded.
I smiled to myself.
"Oh, okay. I'd like that" I replied, admiring his simple yet thoughtful idea.
Stiles lead me over to the passenger side of his jeep and opened the door for me.
"I thought you said we were going for a walk?" I asked as I got in.
Stiles closed the door behind me and walked around to the driver's side.
"We are" he answered, closing his door, "but we have to drive to the place"
I gave him a questioning look but he just laughed.
"You'll love it, I promise" he reassured me.
Stiles then started the car and drove off towards our destination.

"Where are we?" I asked as we pulled up to a dirt road surrounded by thousands of trees.
"A forest trail" Stiles replied, getting out of the jeep.
I did the same, closing the door behind me.
I looked up at the trees, admiring how tall they were.
Stiles walked up next to me and took my hand in his.
"Come on" he said with a smile, leading me towards the trail.
I smiled back, following closely behind him.

"So, how'd you find this place?" I questioned Stiles.
We had been walking for a while and it was probably around dinner time right now.
Surprisingly, I wasn't all that hungry.
"Well..." Stiles trailed off.
I could hear the hesitance in his voice and I could feel his body getting tense since we were still holding hands.
I stopped walking and Stiles did the same.
I looked at him worriedly and he looked down at the ground.
I heard him sniffle and he was really starting to worry me.
"Stiles, what's wrong?" I asked concerned.
I bent over and turned my head to the side so our eyes met.
Stiles looked over at me and sighed, raising his head.
I stood up straight, too, and I could see the tears forming in Stiles' eyes.
He wasn't crying, but his eyes were glistening.
"Stiles hun, is everything okay?" I questioned, taking his hands in mine.
A tear finally escaped Stiles' eye.
I instantly wrapped my arms around his waist, squeezing him into a tight hug.
"Stiles, you're scaring me" I stated worriedly.
He sniffled loudly and took a deep breath.
"I'm sorry. It's mom and I used to come here all the time" he choked out.
His tears were falling more freely now and he hung his head low, burying it in my shoulder.
"I'm so sorry" I mumbled quietly.
I didn't know exactly what had happened to his mom, because he hasn't told me, and I haven't asked.
The only thing I knew is that she died.
I ran my fingers through the back of his hair.
"I'm so sorry" I mumbled again, tears now slowly falling from my eyes, too.
I hurt me so much to see him like this.
It broke my heart actually.
"Don't cry" Stiles pleaded, finally lifting his head off my shoulder.
"I just can't stand to see you like this" I muttered, wiping the tears from under my eyes.
Stiles hugged me and I kind of felt bad, considering I was the one trying to make him feel better.
He took his thumb and wiped away the last of my tears.
"Stiles, I know your mom loved you and she is so proud of you. She will always be watching over you and smiling down at you. She loves you" I murmured, trying my best to comfort him.
He gave me a small smile and rested his hand on the side of my face, stroking my cheek with his thumb.
"I just wish she could have met you....I know she would have loved you" he mumbled.
I smiled and reached up to kiss his cheek.
He lifted me up into a hug and I giggled into the side of his neck.
"Thanks for being there for me Brooke" he whispered in my ear.
"I'll always be here for you" I whispered back.
Stiles smiled and set me back down on the ground.
He wasn't crying anymore and he actually had a smile on his face.
I smiled to myself, happy he was smiling again.
"Shall we continue?" he asked, holding his arm out in the direction of the trail.
I giggled and nodded my head.
Stiles grabbed my hand once again and intertwined our fingers.
We smiled at each other before continuing down the path.

"It's beautiful" I muttered in awe.
We had reached the end of the trail.
It stopped at the edge of a field.
It was dark now and you could see the moon and the stars clearly.
Stiles smiled and hugged me from behind, wrapping his arms around my waist.
"Yeah, I always loved the view" he mumbled into my ear.
I giggled as his breath tickled my skin.
He chuckled.
"What's so funny?" he asked, clearly confused.
I turned around to face him and put my hands on his chest, his arms still wrapped around my waist.
He was looking down at me so I looked up at him and our eyes met.
"Nothing" I whispered back.
Stiles gave me a questioning look but I just smirked.
Stiles leaned down closer to me.
"I think you should tell me" he whispered, his breath hitting my lips.
I smiled and shook my head.
"I don't think so" I whispered back.
Stiles playfully rolled his eyes and we both leaned closer.
Just as our lips were about to meet, we heard a large crack coming from the trees behind us.

Stiles and I jumped apart.
I could feel his grip tighten around me and we both moved away from the trees.
"What was that?" I questioned quietly, trying not to panic.
"I don't know. Maybe it was just a rabbit" Stiles responded, trying to convince me.
I nodded my head, unconvinced on Stiles' theory.
Just then, we heard another branch crack.
This time it sounded louder and closer.
Stiles took another couple steps backwards and pulled me with him.
Another crack.
"Stiles" I breathed worriedly, as I gripped onto his arm.
"It's okay Brooke" he whispered.
I could hear the tension in his voice.
All of a sudden, glowing red eyes appeared through the trees.
My heart started to race and my breath got caught in my throat.
I gripped tighter onto Stiles' arm.
Stiles and I both backed up again as the pair of eyes came closer.
"Run" Stiles breathed.
"What?!" I questioned, taken by shock.
"Run!" he shouted again, turning on his heels and pulling me behind him.
I almost stumbled over my own feet as we ran through the field and towards the trees on the other side.
Whatever it was that was in the trees was following us and I could hear it close behind.
"Stiles!" I pleaded as tears started streaming down my face.
"Just keep running Brooke, it'll be okay" Stiles shouted back.
I did what I was told and followed behind Stiles as quickly as I could.
My chest hurt so bad and my legs felt weak.
We had just reached the edge of the trees and I knew the thing was gaining on us.
Before I knew what was going on, I was laying on the ground next to Stiles.
Choking from the force of the impact.
Whatever was behind us had caught up and tripped us both.
Stiles instantly wrapped his arms around me as a protective shield.
I buried my face in his chest and tried not to cry.
"You didn't think you could get away from me that easily, did you Stiles?" I heard a voice ask.
I furrowed my eyebrows and confusion consumed my expression.
I slowly lifted my head from Stiles' chest and looked up towards the voice.
I saw a dark haired guy with dark green eyes.
He had a smirk on his face which only made me more confused.
Stiles stood up and helped me up with him.
"Derek...please" Stiles pleaded with the guy.
So his name is Derek.
"Where is Scott?" Derek asked, now sounding angry.
"I...I don't know" Stiles muttered back.
"Stiles," Derek growled, taking a step towards us.
Stiles took a step back and pushed me behind him, wrapping his arm around me for protection.
I gripped tightly onto Stiles' shirt as Stiles and Derek stared at each other.
Derek's face fell into a smile and he started laughing.
I'm not sure if this made me relieved, or even more scared.
Derek sighed and looked up at the sky.
"Now, you don't want me to have to ask again" Derek warned, looking towards us.
I could feel Stiles' body stiffen as Derek's smile turned into a frown.
"WHERE IS HE?!" Derek shouted.
It sounded more like a growling shout, and I buried my face into Stiles' back.
"I DON KNOW" Stiles shouted back, '...I don't know..."
Derek sighed and walked closer to us.
Stiles tightened his grip on me and I knew Derek was getting closer.
"You know, you shouldn't protect Scott, he can handle himself. Oh, and I can tell when you're lying, because your heart races" Derek said.
"Leave us alone Derek" Stiles responded through gritted teeth.
Derek laughed again which made me wince.
"Just stay out of my way Stiles. We wouldn't want anything happening to you...or your girlfriend" Derek warned.
I buried my head farther into Stiles' shirt and I heard a deep growl.
I was trying to prepare myself for what might happen next, but when nothing happened, I took my face away from Stiles' shirt and looked around.
Derek was gone.
