Chapter thirty seven ⋆

*Back to Justin’s P.O.V*

As soon as I got home from the hospital, I informed Bethanny that Dawson was recovering fine. She was in the middle of making dinner so that was all I told her.

‘’Justin, will you get Dawson to come downstairs and change Madi’s diaper and bring her down too.’’ Bethanny ordered, as she serving my food on the dinner table. I smiled, liking Bethanny giving orders. I jogged upstairs catching Dawson in the play room. ‘’Hey buddy.’’ I greeted. He continued playing with his Buzz Lightyear toy and Woody doll.

‘’Are you hungry? Mom made chicken and spaghetti?’’ I chuckled. He looked up at me and nodded, setting his toys down. I patted his head and grabbed his hand until he was in the kitchen. When I was done I left to Madison’s room to change her diaper.

‘’Hey pumpkin bear,’’ I cooed, raising her in the air so I’d be able to smell her diaper, ‘’yuck, you smell like..dinosaur pee.’’ I closed my nose and stopped breathing. After I changed her diaper, I carried her with one arm to the kitchen, helping Bethanny with the drinks.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to ruin the night with my paparazzi news. We were actually starting to feel like a family and then this Francisco guy comes along to question my knowledge of my son the day of his surgery. Why can’t things just be normal for once-

‘’Justin, you okay? Madi’s crying. She’s hungry.’’ Bethanny snapped me out of my thoughts, making me aware of my daughter crying. ‘’Yeah, of course.’’

I mixed warm milk with her baby formula and slipping it into her mouth. Immediately, Madi drank up and fell asleep in my arms. ‘’Has she been sleeping all day? She was asleep when I got her.’’ I asked Bethanny.

Bethanny placed a hand on Madi’s forehead, feeling her temperature. ‘’Nah, she’s probably just tired from earlier this morning. I’ll take her to bed.’’

As Bethanny left, I debated whether or not to tell her about Dawson. Once I saw her walking back to the table, I decided to keep my mouth shut and just tell her about the appointment next week. ‘’Oh, today the doctor said Dawson would have one last appointment before he’s officially free from hospital visits.’’ I informed, grabbing my plates and putting them into the sink.

‘’Ugh, another appointment?’’ Dawson whined, slumping in his chair. I chuckled, scrubbing my plate and placing it into the dish tray.

‘’It’s the last one, bud.’’ I whispered.

‘’Promise?’’ he asked, playing with his hands. Bethanny sighed, rubbing her eyes. I was guessing from the tiredness.

‘’I promise.’’ I whispered again.

‘’When is the appointment?’’ Bethanny asked. I pecked her forehead, rubbing her back.

‘’It’s on Thursday.’’
