I think James is cheating on me. I know I should not think that way because I trust him, but I have been getting this feeling. He is out late at night, getting home during the early hours of the morning and when we were sleeping, his phone would ring all the time. He would take his phone to the bathroom and talk to the person.
Well, where am I now? Laying in bed, waiting for James to get home. I hear the bedroom's door open then close and the bed shifted to one side, indicating James is sitting on the bed. I look over at the clock and it's pass two o'clock. I sit up and rub my eyes as James looks at me. "Hey." He greeted. He sits next to me and tries to kiss my lips, but I turn my head causing him to kiss my cheek. He pulls away and gives me a confused look. "What's the matter?" He asked.
"Where have you been?" I questioned.
"At work. Where else?" He answered.
"Oh yeah?" I scoffed.
"Yeah. We had to practice the dance moves because-" he was interrupted by his phone ringing. I let out a sigh and climbed out of bed. "Sorry, baby. Hold on." He said before answering his phone. He gets up and walks to the bathroom, continuing the conversation he is having. I stare at him in disbelief and pace around the room. I wait until he is done on the phone. I am not done talking to him.
Once he is done talking on the phone, he re-enters the room. He sets his phone down and watches me across the room. "What?" I asked.
"What is with you?" He chuckled, walking closer to me. I just watch him as he place his hands on my hips and lean his forehead against mine.
"Who was on the phone?" I asked, taking my head away from his.
"No one important." He answered. I cross my arm, raising an eyebrow. "What?" He questioned.
I lick my lips before whispering "Are you cheating on me?"
James looks at me with a confused look and steps back a little. "Why would you think that?" He asked.
"By how the way you have been acting lately. Out late at night and midnight calls with no one." I said.
"Babe, I was at work and the midnight calls are from my dance instructor." James said.
"Yeah, your young dance instructor." I argued.
"Are you jealous?" He asked. I furrowed my eyebrows and shook my head.
"No, James. It's just that every time she calls, you go into a different room. Why can't you talk to her when I'm with you?" I said, getting annoyed by the fact he thinks I'm jealous. Well, maybe I am, but that's only because he's my boyfriend. I don't want some girl always calling him late every night.
"I didn't want to wake you." He said.
"But what about tonight? I was already awake." I spat. James stood silent for a moment, just studying me.
"I guess I wasn't being fair." He said under his breath. I scoff at him and pace around the room again. "Do you not trust me?" He asked. I stop to look at him. I see the hurt in his eyes and immediately guilt washes over me. I walk up to him and take his hand.
"Of course I do." I said, rubbing his thumb with mine.
"Then why did you ask me all kinds of questions?" He asked.
I look down. I regret having this little argument with him, especially pass two a.m. He lifts up my chin with his finger and looks at me. "It was uncalled for," I said. "I'm sorry."
James chuckles. "Babe, it's okay. You just need to relax sometimes." He said, rubbing both of my arms. "I love you, okay? Remember that." He said. I nod my head. "I love you, too." I said, leaning in to kiss him.
