~Next Day At School~
Austin, Alex, Emily and I were sitting down in the cafeteria together. Alex and Austin were sitting across from us and a few other kids sat by us just because of Austin. We started to talk about how we should hangout together on Friday because it's going to be a half day. We decided on going to the mall.
Austin and I just got to the mall and we met Alex and Emily inside. As we were walking around and making small talk a group of girls ran over to us. Oh great... I sighed as they started to scream. I looked over at Austin and saw that he didn't care about the screaming or the attention he got. He loved his fans. Emily and I stood there watching the girls talk to Alex and Austin.
"Are they your girlfriends?" I heard one of the younger girls ask.
"No, they're just friends," Austin and Alex both replied laughing softly. After they finished talking to the girls and signing things for them we started to walk around again.
"Ooh! Can we go in here? Please," Emily begged wanting to go into a store that I hated.
"Uh... you can but I'll wait here," I said smiling at her.
"Come on Avery, I don't want to go in alone," she pouted.
"I'll go with you," Alex said walking towards the store.
"Okay," Emily said turning her head. I could see that she was blushing.
"I'll stay here with you," Austin said looking over at the store and then back at me.
"Okay. What should we do?" I asked looking around.
"Maybe we should walk around and meet up with them later. I'm pretty sure Alex has a thing for Emily anyways, they could use some one on one time together," Austin laughed softly.
"He does," I said smiling at Austin. "I mean... I'm pretty sure he does." I added remembering that Alex told me not to tell anyone.
"How about we get something to eat?" I asked looking over at the food court.
"Good idea," he replied. We walked over to the food court and got the food that we wanted and then we sat down at a table together.
"I have something to tell you," Austin said as we were eating.
"What?" I asked worried.
"I'm going to start homeschooling soon," he replied.
"Really?" I asked feeling sad.
"Yeah," he finished eating and then he pushed his plate to the side of the table.
"So, we're not going to see you in school anymore?" I asked with a straight face.
"Have you told Alex or your other friends yet?" I asked pushing my plate aside.
"No. You're the only person I've told. I was planning on telling them later," Austin said looking down at the table.
"Telling who, what later?" Alex asked walking over to the table with Emily.
"Nothing," Austin answered quickly.
"Okay..." Alex replied suspiciously. I looked over at Emily's hand and saw that she was holding pictures she must have taken in a photo booth with Alex. When I looked down at them I saw that in one of the pictures Alex and her were kissing.
"Emily can I talk to you for a second?" I asked looking away from the picture and back at her.
"Sure," she answered walking over to a different table away from the guys and I followed her. "What do you want to talk to me about?" she asked placing the pictures on the table faced down.
"Flip the pictures over." I said giggling. She blushed and flipped them over. "Why are you two kissing?" I asked smiling at her.
"Um... about that. Alex and I are a couple." Emily said smiling nervously at me.
"Since when?" I asked.
"Since three day's ago," she replied.
"Why haven't you told me?" I asked curiously.
"Because, I thought you would be mad," she answered.
"Why in the world would I be mad?" I asked confused.
"Well, I know Alex is your ex and I thought-"
"What? Who told you that?!" I asked before she could finish what she was going to say.
"Alex did," she answered.
"Why? Why would he bring that up?"
"Because I asked him how he knew you and it just came up. Don't be mad."
"I'm not mad that you two are together," I said taking a deep breath. "I'm mad that he told you that he's my ex. He could have left that part out," I replied lying back in my chair taking a couple more deep breaths. I didn't want anyone to know about me and Alex. Now that Emily knows I'm worried.
"Don't be mad at him either," Emily pouted.
"Just forget it. I'm fine and I'm happy for you," I said faking a smile and standing up. She stood up as well and I gave her a hug. We walked back over the table Alex and Austin were sitting at.
"Can we go?" I whispered into Austin's ear as I looked across the table at Alex.
"Sure, why?" he asked looking up at me.
"Because," I mumbled.
"Okay. Um, we have to go," Austin said to Alex and Emily.
"Already?" Alex asked.
"Yeah. I just remembered I have stuff to do and Avery has to go home," Austin said making up an excuse for us to leave."
"Oh, okay. Bye," Alex and Emily said turning around and then they continued to walk around the mall. Austin and I walked to the car and left the mall.
"Why did you want to leave?" I asked Avery as we left the mall.
"Because," she replied.
"Because isn't an answer." I smiled back at her.
"I just needed to leave. Everything is fine," she said squinting her eyes as she looked out the window. Wait a minute... she squinted her eyes. When she does that it's because she's lying.
"I know you're lying," I said laughing softly.
"And how can you possibly know that?" she asked looking back at me.
"Because I just remembered that you squint your eyes when you lie."
"No I don't," she denied squinting them again.
"Yes you do. You just did it again," I laughed.
"Fine, you're right. I do. Whatever. I don't want to talk about it," she replied looking back out the window.
"Fine," I said focusing back on my driving.
