“Don’t go. He’ll only end up hurting you,” Absol growled, grabbing your arm. You rolled your eyes at that. Ever since you started going out with Steven, your most reliable pokemon, or should I say, former pokemon, had gotten edgy around you.
“You know how I feel about him Absol. Just because you’re now a human, doesn’t mean you get to control what I do with my life,” you said, annoyed. Now you were probably going to be late for your date.
“Why do you like him anyway? You have no real reason,” Absol narrowed his eyes at you.
“Of course I do! He’s sweet, kind, funny, and he doesn’t act like you do now!” you snapped. “Now let me go! I’m late for my date.”
Absol stared at you for a long moment before he finally let go.
“If he hurts you, I warned you,” he scowled, a hurt look in his eyes.
“... I’ll see you later Absol. We’re going to finish this conversation later,” and with that, you were out the door and on your way to your date.
When you finally arrived at Steven’s house in Mossdeep, you were a little concerned when you heard him talking behind his door. You could just barely make out the words.
“Yeah.....(Name) doesn’t know.......soon it’ll.... just you and I....call... back.... love you...” most of the words were muffled, but you definitely could tell what was going on.
Knocking on the door, you waited patiently. There was no way you were going to let him know how you felt.
Steven opened the door and smiled down at you.
“Ah, (Name), are you ready to go?” he asked, leaning down to kiss you on the lips, but you stopped him, using your hand to push his face away.
“Excuse me, who the hell do you think you are? Do you really think you could cheat on me and think that I wouldn’t find out?” you growled at him.
Steven blinked in surprise.
“W-what are you talking about? Cheating? I haven’t....” he didn’t continue.
“Then tell me who the hell you were talking to on the phone just now?!” you snapped.
Steven said nothing. That was all you needed to know that your relationship was over, forever. Frowning you got out your favorite bird pokemon and flew back to your home, wondering why this had to happen to you. Why hadn’t you listened to Absol?
Once you landed in front of your home, you returned your pokemon to its pokeball and went inside, wondering how Absol would rub the fact that he was right, in your face.
“(Name), what are you doing back so quickly?” Absol was sprawled across your couch. He hadn’t expected you to return so early.
“You were right. Are you happy now? Steven was cheating on me,” you sniffled, glaring at your Pokémon.
Absol’s eyes widened as you told him the news.
“What? Are you going to rub it in my face? You were right, and I was wrong,” you were about to break down.
After a long moment of silence, Absol got off the couch and came over to you. He stared down at you for a long time before he finally enveloped you in a hug. Immediately you snapped on the inside, tears flowing from your eyes. Absol held you until your sobs finally slowed to a stop.
“I swear, I’m going to kill that bastard,” he growled into your ear. “I can’t believe someone would hurt you like this. I swear I’ll kill him!”
“P-please don’t. It’s not worth it,” you sniffed, wiping your eyes.
Absol’s eyes softened as he looked down at you. Leaning down, he began licking under your eyes, catching extra tears that dropped from your eyes.
“W-what are you doing!?” you exclaimed, your face heating up. Absol had never done anything like that before to you.
“Shh, you shouldn’t cry. You look better when you’re smiling,” Absol spoke, a light smirk tugging on his mouth.
“You’re unbelievable!” you rolled your eyes, a small smile making its way on your face.
“(Name), can I ask you to do something for me?” Absol asked, his face turning serious.
“Sure, I guess,” you nodded your head.
Absol pulled you into his arms again, resting his chin on your head.
“Please don’t be with anyone else. I don’t want you to be hurt again like that...” he muttered, nuzzling his face against your head.
You blinked at his request, moving so you could look up at him.
“I don’t want other people to hurt you. I care about you so much! I don’t want you to feel that much pai-” Absol’s voice cracked for a second.
“I don’t want you to be hurt because I love you,” he finally got out the words.
For a moment you said nothing, your face was completely crimson at this point.
“Absol... I-I’ll promise,” you finally agreed, burying your face in his chest. Absol smiled down at you as he ruffled up your hair.
“Good, because you’re only mine,” he grinned down at your form.
Maybe it would be better if you were to stick with Absol. He had always been for you, before and after he became a human.Either way, he would always be yours, and you would always be his.
